2020 Coronavirus Update

The COVID-19 coronavirus situation is rapidly evolving. QHM is carefully monitoring several sources of information for health and travel including travel advisories from the state department, and travel restrictions from our Adventist NAD and multiple conferences. As part of our principle of careful stewardship of resources, QHM is implementing some new guidelines in order to be responsible citizens in lessening the spread of coronavirus and its impact on our staff, team members, local communities, and the world.

After prayerful review and discussion, our officer team made the decision to re-schedule all of the remaining 2020 mission trips for a future date. We are working with our international partners to explore ways that QHM can support evangelism outreach without sending a mission team from the United States. We are also reaching out to team members to discuss their participation and any refunds.

We are taking additional steps for our staff travel, changing to video-conference formats for meetings, and implementing enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures in our building. Throughout this difficult time, QHM is committed to moving forward in faith to continuing the work of spreading the love of Jesus to the world. The gospel message will not be stopped.

Changes are coming to the world at a rapid pace, and we are constantly evaluating our next steps. Please join me in keeping our world and QHM in your prayers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Quiet Hour Ministries do?
We reach thousands of people for Christ every year through volunteer-based international evangelism. Our short-term mission trips involve volunteers from every walk of life in soul-winning evangelism, children’s outreach, medical clinics, church construction and more!

What is your mission?Partnering with God in leading people to share His saving grace.

Are you affiliated with a Christian denomination? We are a supporting ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Our evangelistic meetings are in agreement with Adventist theology and in cooperation with local Adventist leaders. Most of our mission team members are also Adventists. So our work very much furthers the mission of the Adventist Church. But we are not administered by the denomination. Nor do we receive any financial support from the Adventist Church.

How long has Quiet Hour Ministries been around? Our ministry began on July 7, 1937, when Pastor J.L. Tucker began airing devotional radio program called “The Quiet Hour” in Portland, Oregon. Over the years we grew into a nation-wide radio broadcast and added a television program. It was in the mid-1960s that we first got involved in mission work. And that has expanded to the point where today evangelism mission trips are our core focus.

Are you still on the radio? To focus more closely on our evangelism mission trips, we ceased radio program production in 2005. This allows us to direct more funds into the mission field, where God has opened tremendous opportunities for our evangelism.

How can I join one of your mission trips?
You are urgently needed in the mission field and we’d love to have you join one of our mission teams. Evangelistic meeting presenters, children’s program leaders, medical professionals, construction crew and anyone with a passion for sharing Jesus—this is the perfect place for you! To learn more, see our mission trip opportunities.

Are there other ways I can be involved?Absolutely! First and foremost, we rely totally upon the Lord in our work. So, your prayers for us are vitally important. And if you’d like us to pray for you, please send us your request and we’ll bring it before the Lord in our daily staff worship. Also, your financial support is crucial to reaching people around the world for Christ. Check out the many ways your gift can make a difference!
