Mitú, Colombia

August 23 - September 6, 2022

Join the Quiet Hour Ministries mission team in Mitú, Colombia! QHM is excited to partner with the Northwest Bogotá & Boyacá Conference for evangelistic opportunities in the city of Mitú. This city is the only state capital that does not have an SDA church presence, and since 2021, QHM has supported a Colombian missionary couple and their plans to plant a church in this jungle region. As a result, a group of 18 people have been baptized so far. A small team of 8-10 team members will present our My Friend Jesus evangelistic series for adults and Friendship Hour for our children's programs at two sites in the city. During the day, the team will hold health screenings for the local people. As an exciting component of this trip, the team will visit Piracemo, a village up the Vaupes river, to provide the community with bags of food and promote healthy living. We have been looking forward to being able to make this trip a reality and share this part of the world with a Quiet Hour mission team and hope you can join us in Mitú!

Trip Overview

Your mission with Quiet Hour Ministries in Colombia will be to share how the love and grace of Jesus has the power to change lives. You will be completely immersed in a new culture, serving alongside a long-term missionary couple to bring hope to the precious people in their community.

Each day will bring you into contact with different people, each one a child of God. However, many of them don't share our hope in Jesus' soon return. Your team will get the opportunity to serve them by participating in the facilitation of a free basic health screening, which includes eye testing and the provision of reading glasses where needed.

In the evenings, the team will split in two to hold evangelistic meetings in local meeting halls known as malokitas where team members will take on different roles including preaching our My Friend Jesus sermon series, sharing some basic health principles, or helping to facilitate a children's program. All materials are provided in advance for you to become familiar with, so don't worry if you've never done any of this before!

You will return home with the joy of creating new friendships and building partnerships. You will be a witness to the power of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of your team members and in the people of Colombia. We can't wait to serve the people of Mitú with you!
